Forgotten Fantasies (Spoilers) Stew Shearer

Editorial Excerpt:

"I am one of those folk who gets sorely tired of hearing about Final Fantasy VII. I understand it was a great game, and I appreciate it's role in expanding the popularity of both the Final Fantasy series and RPGs in general. But at the end of the day, whenever I see it on a top ten list or read yet another forum posting espousing it as the catharsis of gaming, I find myself asking "Why?"

The Perils of Being Different Mike "JuMeSyn" Moehnke

Editorial Excerpt:"Perhaps it is unnecessary to use Lunar: Dragon Song as my whipping boy once more. Perhaps the game has already suffered enough excoriation by me in both Q&A and the review of it on this site. Perhaps the points I seek to make using it is an obvious one. Perhaps these things are indeed so, but I will not be dissuaded from my task of the day. Lunar: Dragon Song illustrates very vividly how innovation, in and of itself, is not a beneficial aspect to an RPG."

From the Editor's Desk

Rock Band 2 is out and with it my focus on any other game in my library has waned. Did you know the game has Painkiller, by Judas Priest? It's only one of the fastest, cheesiest, coolest songs ever written. I flunked out in about six seconds, but what a six seconds it was! So yeah, that's me at the moment.

After a week of absence, the editorials sections is returning with avengence, and not the lousy Bruce Willis variety. Bonus points for the chap -or chapette of course- that knows what I'm referencing. It's an easy one so I expect answers! JuMeSyn returns yet again with a nice discussion of those lesser qualities of Lunar: Dragon Song. I remember eyeing the game as a naive prepubescent boy. I am glad now I didn't buy it. I accompany sir Moehnke with a piece about everyone's favorite Final Fantasy, and why I think it's grossly overrated. Enjoy all, and as always write in!
